  • The TODAY Show visits PMG

PMG to be featured on the TODAY Show!
    Saturday morning, December 25, 2010

NBC’s TODAY Show made a stop at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens! NBC News Correspondent Michelle Kosinski took a private tour of the enormous tiled installation with founding artist Isaiah Zagar, and interviewed Zagar in his private studio within the Garden complex.

TodayShowLogo The TODAY Show segment with PMG is part of a larger story about gifting within a community. Local Lowe’s employee R.J. Bohn was inspired to take action after a recent tour of Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. Bohn noticed the use of tiles and found materials throughout the impressive installation, and asked his supervisor to donate the broken tiles that Lowe’s normally discards.

When Michelle Kosinski visited Lowe’s to purchase her own tiles, Bohn happened to be the associate assisting her! He described his amazing experience at PMG, as well as the his donations made to Zagar and PMG. Kosinski decided to highlight PMG, Bohn, and the local Lowe’s in the spirit of giving.

Both Zagar and Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens use thousands of tiles each year for their growing public programs and murals.  These projects serve diverse audiences including at-risk youth and people with disabilities, as well as the larger Latino and African-American communities.

This heartwarming story is scheduled to be aired on NBC's TODAY Show on December 25, Christmas morning!
